Well, several of you have been asking about her, and so it's with pleasure that I'm finally able to get her up here. Steampunk Rarity in all of her dreary Victorian glory!

This commission was done for the very tasteful ~Forderz, who came to me wanting a scene of wet-haired, steampunk Rarity out and about in the elements, and looking appropriately disgruntled for this fact. The picture was influenced to a certain extent by Forderz's fondness of this fabulous composition, "Rarity IS Industry", which very much helped to inspire me in creating a proper mood for the piece.

Also, even though I knew that the manestyle at least would not be used I created a page of concept art for the piece, to ensure a better grasp on the outfit that I designed for Rarity. All in all, despite the many challenges I have to say I enjoyed working on this project immensely!

Very nice. Rarity goes rather well with steam-punk attire. :D

increasingly amusing ways to draw Rarity! my Jelly levels are rising!

Beyond the work with the subject though [which is awesome on multiple tiers for being steampunk, wet mane, Rarity, and the involvement of monocles and really well done wrinkled cloth], I would like to gush over the background work and how I love it since I usually get REALLY lazy with backgrounds.

Seeing Ponyville in overcast is already something I love [it's part of the reason I like Magic Duel as much as I do], but you also made it look so smooth, so... right! everything from the soggy cobblestones to the subtle fuzziness of the rooftops to the shadows the rooftops cast to the ever faint smokestacks that can be seen off in the distance. this pic OOZES beauty through every painted pixel. <3

... gushing over.

This is such a fabulous gushing comment, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the generous feedback, thank you so very much! While credit for this idea itself must go to my client ~Forderz of course, since this was a commission, there were still quite a lot of the actual details left up to me (including the costume design) and so truly, the compliments mean a lot. Especially those regarding the background, because unlike many artists it seems such things do not come very easy or natural for me, and if you have really looked at most of my other fanarts you can see that I seldom bother with backgrounds at all as a result. So in any case yes, it really means a lot, and I thank you again... I'm sorry that it took me so long to get back to this message!

Very interesting style here, kind of reminds me of something from Charles Dickens. Possibly a tale of two cities :D

My apologies for the late reply, but thank you so very much for the kind comments! Indeed, Charles Dickens' works were a bit of an inspiration to me while I was working on this piece, so you really are quite on the mark!
