Commission: Etude for Cello, Op. 23 by WhiteDiamondsLtd Commission: Etude for Cello, Op. 23 by WhiteDiamondsLtd
My very first "big" pony commission, I would say. This piece was done for the ever-lovely ~jodyjm13, a good friend of mine who wanted a picture of Octavia in the act of composing, as opposed to just performing with her cello as she is in most fanwork depictions. Many of the details in this picture are hardly what I would consider to be perfect at this point, I'm sorry to say, but more importantly than anything I sought to create a distinct mood when I created this piece, and can only hope people agree I was successful in doing just that.

By FAR the best and most in-depth Octavia art I have ever seen, you did a great job and if I had the money and ideas I would definitely commission something from you (if you were doing commissions). That tail is just steller, and the mirror and lamp are absolutely perfect. I especially like the empty shelves in the back, though I'm not sure why.

Octavia always bothered me because: she plays the cello, which is a bass clef instument. Yet her cutie mark = treble clef! Strange eh?
Although the treble clef is a more wellknown musical symbol, I still think that she should have a bass clef.
Or one of those hearts made fom an upsidedown treble clef and a base clef! Have you ever seen one? They are very simple but cool and would make a neat cutie mark.

This reply is probably inexcusably old at this point, but I'm afraid I have been away from deviantART since May, and apparently missed out on seeing it before that. And while I almost thought better of responding for that reason I figured it should never be too late to express my gratitude, so really thank you very much for such a lovely and insightful comment. While this artwork is lacking in many technical respects  that I can't help but regret now, even despite the fact it remains one of my most favorites of all that I've done, simply because I feel I captured a certain rare something with this one that is often elusive. I sincerely do appreciate your feedback on it, and apologize that it took me so long to say so.

The soft muted colors really looks nice...   then again, that's how it is with all your art.
