Colorful Blush by WhiteDiamondsLtd Colorful Blush by WhiteDiamondsLtd
So, it's been a while now since I've last uploaded anything, and though I will be the first person to admit this is not a stellar artwork by any definition it arguably is better than nothing. It was made as an excuse to play around with colors more than anything (and of course, Rainbow Dash is the ideal subject for such a thing), but despite my original intent I don't think I went quite bold enough here, or at least didn't accomplish what I wanted because I'm sure nobody can argue dear Rainbow is on the fabulously garish side in terms of saturation here. As such, and because I'm not particularly thrilled with it I will likely move it to Scraps eventually, but for now am posting it to my main gallery because several people have asked me to upload some new work recently, and I know not everyone watches Scraps so this way at least they can have a chance to see it if they like.

EDIT: Well now, after receiving many kind comments from so many people I've actually reconsidered moving this to Scraps (or at least for the foreseeable future), as if nothing else this piece was a valuable experiment for me. Thank you all for the lovely feedback!

Haha, I do use a tablet, but I'm almost sorry to say that it's actually one of the simplest and least-expensive brands out there, a Wacom Bamboo Pen. I do this sort of art primarily for a hobby and so didn't bother to invest in anything "better" when I first set out to purchase a tablet, but all the same it has served me quite well so far, I must say.

Well, to be perfectly honest I can probably offer little advice beyond practicing drawing ponies as much as possible, if that's what you'd like to do. I actually had a difficult time with them when I first started out as well (compared to what I'd was accustomed to drawing, they were so simplistic in design that they were actually a challenge for me) but I just kept drawing them from references until I was comfortable. Try tracing some images at first just to get a good feeling for their proportions, if that would help. :)

That is actually very good advice. At least I hope so, because it's what I've been telling myself for a while now, but I guess I just had to hear it from someone who is actually quite skilled at drawing stuff themselves. Truth be told, even if I hadn't recieved any kind of confirmation about the effectiveness of my learning methods, I probably still would have continued them. And I believe I am actually getting better at drawing, so the efforts of practice won't be in vain

Well, to be honest I really had no specific reason in mind myself... this was yet another one of those cases where I had just been randomly sketching ponies in different poses/with different expressions, and decided to color this particular doodle. So I guess, feel free to imagine whatever context you like!
